1,5-billion-dollar target in mutual foreign trade volume of Turkey and Belarus
Undertaking to distribute woodworking machinery for Belarus and Ukraine and supplying wood and forestry products to the biggest companies of the EU, Middle East, Far East, the United Stated and the United Kingdom, Sarpedon Global Trade and Bellesexport, the sole authorized company to export forestry enterprises of Belarus belonging to the government came together on the occasion of WoodTech Fair, which is the biggest meeting point of the woodworking machinery sector in the Eurasia Region. After bilateral talks, a good will agreement was signed between two countries in order to increase the amount of foreign trade to 1,5 billion dollars and increase the share of forestry products industry of two countries in trade.
Having visited Turkey recently for five days to waken mutual commercial activities between Turkey and Belarus and assess the potential of wood and forestry products, Leonik Demyanik, the Director of Bellesexport and accompanying delegation participated at WoodTech Fair, which acts as an important collaboration platform for national, regional and international companies as well as being the sole meeting point of the sector for years along with the authorities of Sarpedon Global Trade. Having visited many production facilities during his trip in Turkey as well as the fair, Mr. Demyanik also came together with potential buyers and made a presentation on the activities of Bellesexport.
A new collaboration at WoodTech Fair
Participating at WoodTech Fair together, delegation of Belarus and authorities of Sarpedon made a series of interview with various equipment manufacturers and potential buyers. After the fair, they visited those interviewed equipment manufacturers and various facilities where productions are performed with use of said equipment.
Hosted by Aleksei Shved, İstanbul Consul General of Belarus and supported by Yılmaz Soycan, the President of DEİK Turkey-Belarus Works Council, a meeting was held. Demyanik Leonid, the Director of Bellesexport made a presentation on Belarus forestry products industry and negotiations were made on strategical position and development of this cooperation between two countries.
A good will agreement has been signed between Bellesexport and Sarpedon Global Trade for sales, maintenance of equipment from Turkey and selling wood and forestry products produced in Belarus to Turkey and third parties and logistics.
1,5 billion dollars of year-end expectation in the trade volume
Yılmaz Soycan, the President of DEİK Turkey-Belarus Works Council and Chairman of the Board of Directors and Soycan Group of Companies and its group company Sarpedon Global Trade emphasized that commercial effectiveness is being enhanced each year between two countries and explained the contribution of investments and agreements to be made to the collaboration: “Important steps have been taken between Turkey and Belarus especially in the last couple of years in the matters of trade and investments. As a result of this, it is seen that two countries have a foreign trade volume of 708 million dollars in 2019 and 778 million dollars in 2020 despite the outbreak. Upon review of data belonging to the first 8 months of this year, we see that the current amount is 682 million dollars. Considering business partnerships established by representatives of both countries and opportunities that they will utilize, we aim to increase this number to 1,5 billion dollars at the end of the year.”
“We aim to enhance effectiveness of wood and forestry products in trade” Sharing his opinions on the agreement signed between Bellesexport and Sarpedon Global Trade for sales, maintenance of equipment from Turkey and selling wood-forestry products produced in Belarus to Turkey and third parties and logistics, Mr. Soycan said: “Sarpedon Global Trade undertakes to distribute woodworking machinery for Belarus and Ukraine; supplies wood and forestry products to the biggest companies of the EU, Middle East, Far East, the United States and the United Kingdom and carries out its activities in the field of e-trade at a local and global scale. With this agreement signed between two countries, we aim to enhance effectiveness of wood and forestry products in trade and maximize the contribution to wood-forest industry”.
